Default Tips for Fishing Lac La Belle in the U.P.

I live in the U.P. about 30 miles from Lac La Belle (MI-DNR Map & Bing Map), which I've been told has pikes, walleyes and the occasional muskie as well. I have not fished it yet, but I plan to when my old man comes up in mid-July. He's 70 and wants to "wrestle with a northern again" (it's been a few decades for him). Does anyone have any tips or tricks for this lake that I should consider to make this experience the best possible one for him? We'll be in a boat and can go out during any time frame. Thanks in advance!

Default pike

Stop at the LLB lodge, they give you good info. Try the shallows in the reeds on the West side. Also, give Gratiot Lake a try, it is managed for trophy pike. On Gratiot Lake, try the weeds in the North end and on the South end..lots of pike..and the big ones are there-just harder to catch.
