What are you going to do with it?

Nikon m223 is a much brighter glass at dusk and worth the extra $

Bring in light like the M series Nikon but I like the reticle better

I have a red dot on my 16" barrel for shooting cans, running a maze or any other play time.

If your going to buy some high dollar scope like mentioned earlier I would suggest getting a trigger job. An 8lb trigger will make that $1000 and up scope seem like chit.

Hope I helped

I have a Leupold VX-2 2-7x33mm with the long range duplex Reticle (see picture below).

With my handloads the crosshairs are right on @ 100 yds,

First dot is on @ 275 yds,

2nd dot on @ 425 yards.

check out the P-223 Nikon scope. They are compact, 99% light transmission, and sometimes come with P-223 mounts which are perfect for a flat top.

I saw that and it's been selling for $149 and then add a mount for about $50 and so $200 would not be too bad cost for most of my planned uses, such as coyotes etc.

Also I see Redfield has one called "Battlezone" a 3-9x42mm with TAC-MOA turrett and it has lifetime warranty for $200.

Check both scopes out at dusk. This will prove invaluable to your image of light transmission. If you are going to buy a Nikon p-223 I seriously would consider the M 223 for a bit more or get the redfield for the same price.

X2.

I could not find where you could get additional turrets (BDC) for the RedField. You can for the Nikon. I don't know of many that shoot 55 gr any more. I prefer a heavier bullet.

I always find myself upgrading the scope and wishing I had paid more the first time around.
