Diving Planer Ski's
We finally made it out on Erie today to try out our new planer board system Big Jon mast and Tru Trac boards)it started to feed out right every time I'd let it out slowly it would run true for a short time but would start returning back to the boat and eventually totally submerged it self. This happenened going any speed( .5MPH or faster up to 3 mph )into, with and across the waves, and the driver was keeping the boat going straight. As we only had 2 footers, I would believe they weren't the problem. The mast is mounted on the front casting deck(1700 Lund Fisherman) and is probably a good seven to eight feet above the water line. And Im sure the boards are assembled correctly. Needless to say we never got to fish using the new equipment, I broke out the "Old trusty Offshore in lines" and they performed as expected.I don't see any extra holes for attaching the tow cord in a different spot to tune it so I figure it was engineered to run as is. I thought maybe somebody else has had the same experience and could tell me how to correct this problem because it sure put a damper on todays trip.

Hi,
It sounds like you had them on the wrong side, upside down.I never seen a Big board come back into the boat. May I be fishing somewhere Tomorrow |

RE: Diving Planer Ski's
Im 100% sure I had them on the right side and they weren't upside down I have the boards and directions right in front of me, outer board on the planer leads the inner board, bevels towards boat, eye screw is seven inches from the front of the board and two inches down, on the lead edge of the boards at the top is protruding farther than the bottom that is in the water. Same scenario for both sides. Thats what I thought at first so I tried to put one out on the opposite side, I t wouldn't even try to go out. Like I said if you let it out slowly it would go out where it was suppose to but for no apparrent reason it would pull up and come back behind the boat then it would dive down under the water. Same speeds slow or fast and no changing of directions?????????
