Default Lead

Here's some lead for sale. 50 lbs in one pound ingots for $50. http://www.gunsamerica.com/995944241...ead_ingots.htm

That should make a lot of jigs.

Until just a few years ago I always bought lead from the local scrap metal dealer = cheap and you can buy it in any amount you want. I highly suggest you go that route if you can. The place here lets you rumage through several 55 gallon barrels of lead they have and you can pick what you want = soft lead in smaller pieces that fit right into your pot. Cost will depend on scrap prices but up until a few years ago I have never paid more than 32 cents a pound.

I now have a friend who has access to some great soft lead and I can get that for free.

If you know or have access to a commercial roofing company, soft lead is used around soil pipe that penetrate most roofs and 30" x30" sheets of soft lead are installed around most roof drains. I happen to work for a commercial roof company so I have a few hundred pounds saved up in the barn

Alright, So reading about everyone's jigs gave me the bug again, so I dug out all of my stuff and painted up a few of the "walleye jig" style heads and have started tying a couple experimenting with a couple different styles. It has been nice, this is the first time I have messed with tying any jigs in about 5 years, since I quit selling jigs.

Here are a couple of pics, most of the heads are have glo colors on them which you can see in the low light pics.

It is Powder paint. It works great except you have to put a base coat of white on first, bake the jigs, then put on the glow and bake again. If you try to put the white and glow on without baking in between then paint will drip.
