Need some trolling advice
Starting to get into trolling for walleyes and looking for some advice on good rod and reel combos at good prices. Also looking for some advice on other good sites for info on techniques or from fellow WC anlers on this site.

Trolling crankbaits, bottom bouncers, etc. doesn't require a rod with much "sensitivity". An Ugly Stick will be fine. Pair a medium priced rod with a medium priced reel (which unlike a jigging rig doesn't even have to be very lightweight) of mid pack line capacity, and you'll be in good shape to learn trolling techniques. Actually, the ability to precisely control your boat and understand what your depthfinder is telling you is more important than what's in your hand.

Getting back to the productive zone, and staying out of the non-productive zone is everything in trolling. Get some line counter reels, such as the Daiwa Accudepth Plus series, and try to locate a Precision Trolling book.

There are many people here who know more than I, but what I can help you learn is all in the attached link. I wrote the article for people who fish Table Rock lake in the Ozarks but do not know much about trolling for walleye.
