Default 2008 ranger reatta kicker length

i measured from top of kicker bracket to bottom of hull and it was approx 24 inches. bracket is from ranger.

other posts have said a 20 inch kicker shaft is good but i am not sure.. maybe my bracket is different.

i will try to post pic but i think i need a 25 inch kicker shaft

thx

I've had, and known numerous people with Reattas, both 1850s and 2050s. All had a 20" kicker and it worked very well.

Yep, 20" is good. No worries.

a 20" will work but a 25" will also work and may be just a bit better. if you're going to buy a new motor you might as well get a 25" shaft. if you run across a good buy on a 20" it will work.

yes. i will be buying a new motor because i cant find a used one. leaning towards yamaha t9.9 with elec start/trim.

i think from factory they come rigged with 20 shaft but from what i read i should get a 25. i am just worried about it being too long and drag in water....

Depending on load, 25" will drag. Factory rigs with a 20"!

Juls would know the answer to your question very well. If you were rigging a 620 or a 621 then the answer would be 25. But these are different hulls. The reatta has a higher step on the side so a 20 will be getting full flow. 24 is to the point on the bottom of the hull. Measure straight down to the nears point of the bracket and you will know what I mean.

If you will only use the kicker to troll forward, a shorter shaft may work well.
If, however, you want to back-troll, buy the same length shaft as your main engine. A shorter shaft will likely result in a whirlpool above the prop, and loss of reverse thrust. I struggled with that limitation for years.

I know a bunch of guys running 620's and 621's. Mostly pro staffers that get a new rig each season. They all run 20 shafts on their kicker motors.
