T8 prop slips in reverse??
I found what I think is a good deal on a 2005 Yamaha t8 high thrust tiller with elec start and tilt for $1200. Works great in forward but prop acts like its slipping in reverse. If you shift it into reverse and spin prop with your hand you can spin it without spinning motor. It kind of catches then you hear clunking then prop will spin freely both ways. When you shift into foward it's hard to spin and you can tell you are turning over motor when it spins. Maybe something is stripped out in reverse. I kind of played with linkage but couldn't figure it out. Any ideas or suggestions? Maybe tomorrow I will drop lower unit and see what I can see. Thanks for help.

Just a guess here, but it sounds like the reverse gear is stripped.

took off prop and two bolts holding guts to lower unit in... i think there is a borken pin of some sort... their is a pin the pushes a gear like collar back towards the prop and in that assembly there are three little different length pins... need to figure out how they go or how they should look
