Sorry to hear about this. I can relate to it. I took a customer's boat out once to make sure his engine was running right after we fixed a run issue. He neglected to tell us that the lower unit was drained..... It acted just like that. Locked up and twisted the drive shaft right off. Made it back to the ramp on the bow mount. We replaced the lower unit, no charge to customer, of course. Lost our butt on that one. Last edited by T Mac; 06-07-2011 at 10:10 PM. |

When they blow up,can cause quite a bit of damage. One time I had to tow a dead recreation boat back to the launch. Helped him get back on his trailer. When we got a look at it close up, saw his Mercruiser lower unit had actually blown about a 3 inch hole out the side of the gearcase housing! What a mess !
