Replacement Axle for 2008 Prestige Single Axle Trailer
Does anyone know where to get a replacement axle for a 2008 Prestige trailer? The serial number is worn off the axle and I am not sure of the manufacturer. Thanks for the help!

Do you know the weight rating of the axle, and is it strong enough? You can increase the axle rating if you think it's needed.
Measure the distance between the clips at the springs. The axle length is also important, but the clip-clip distance usually takes care of that. Call a trailer parts shop with your information, and they should be able to provide a replacement. If there's no local trailer parts/repair shop, Northern Tool sells axles. |

I am not sure of the weight rating. It seems the stock axle was not enough. I took the trailer to a dealer and was told the axle was crimped? I was told that there are no aftermarket axles for Prestige and no one seems to know the original axle manufaturer. The dealer told me that a custom axle would have to be made at the tune of 600-900 bucks. Someone metioned to me Reliance Axle may have been one of the manufacturers, but I cannot find any info. Thanks for the advice!

do you have the clip measurements? its easier to hook a tape to the outside of the leaf spring and go outside to outside. I have some new 3000 lb axles, most single axle trailers don't go any heavier than that. Good Luck

I was going to post earlier, but my supplier is quite a distance from you and thought shipping would be high. Anyhow here's the link. http://www.easternmarine.com/ A 3500# axle would be max for a single axle trailer, and that's what I would go with. You need to determine the type axle, round, drop, square etc. Then get the hub face to hub face measurement, best to pull the wheels for this. At least on the round axles, you get the spring pads loose, and have to have them welded on yourself at the correct distance apart, and either the top or bottom of the axle. Their axles look to be made by Reliance, so if you can determine exactly what you need by my link, maybe you can find one locally or have it ordered. I've used them for at least 3 trailer axles, and have been well satisfied. If ordering an axle, I'd order new ubolts also.

If its a torsion axle it's probably a ufp axle. http://ufpnet.com/
I have a 2005. I know they sell only through distributors. I get all my stuff through waymire in Indiana. You can call them too. Good luck. Nick |

When I purchased my boat it did not have brakes on the trailer. It had a 2500# axle and when I took it to the local trailer shop last year they said it would be easier and probably cheaper to put a new axle with brakes under it than try to weld on the backing plate and add brakes, (less labor they said and less problems possible). It was also close to the weight limit when loaded with gear so it was an easy decision for me. It cost me just over 550 for a 3500# axle with brakes. Could not be happier.

Reddy,
Can you take a picture and post it. Also, can you take your loaded trailer over a scale and get the weight on your loaded rig? Once you find the weight of the loaded rig, put an axle under it, that has a weight rating of at least 1000 lbs more and preferably 1500 lbs more. That will give you a good safety rating and be able to hold up to extra weight and ruts when needed. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...atchallpartial http://www.shopchampiontrailers.com/.../products/166/ If you have a straight axle, with U bolts mounting the axle to the underside of the springs, one of the axles listed on the Champion trailer supply page will likely work for you. Check the dimensions of your own axle - distance, size, etc. In any case, I would go with nothing less than a 3500 lb axle. If you have 1 inch spindles, the 3500 lb axles will likely have 1 1/16th or 1 1/8th inch ends which will require new hubs as well. Good luck REW |
