I'd say we've had some incredibly mild episodes, and we have had more rain this winter than snow here in western MN.

We did have a record ice up and I had my wheel shack on 10" of ice on November 21st, but then it warmed up and fishhouses were on the verge of falling through the ice in December. Rain, melting snow with water on top of the ice three different times. It was frustrating to have a fishhouse this winter...no snow to bank the house because warm temps. It rained at least three times in December and January.

I would say mild...ish, chilly, here in west central part of the state I haven't had to blow or scooped snow yet.

Some 20 years ago, one warm day we had snakes out on the river ice.

Default A full grown turtle marooned up on the ice.

I live near a lake not on one. We're part of a chain of lakes. Had a very rainy summer, spring and homes on the connecting channel flooded. Next year they did a lower then normal draw down. Lost a lot of turtles that year.

the last two-three weeks or so have been chilly, but Dec and January were not mild, but darn near balmy. at least in the southern half of the state... many days in the upper 40's and even 50's.

heck, turtles are even coming out of hibernation...

Maybe mild in southern and western Mn but not here. I bet I could count the number of days that were above 32°f on one hand Dec. until now.

Last month was something like the 17th coldest on the record books for the metro, of course not many live at the airport and its been much cooler outside the loop

That comes with very little snow pack as well, could have been much colder

It has certainly been milder than last winter, but that isn't saying much.
