GNWC Donates more than $3,600 to fishing causes
GNWC Donates More Than $3600 to Fishing Clubs
The Grand National Walleye Cup (GNWC) announced today that grants totalling $3,650 will be donated to worthwhile fishing-related projects through eight local fishing clubs. The GNWC’s Enhanced Fisheries program funded the grants. Grants included: • $550 to the Frontenac Sportsmans Club of Lake City Minnesota for use in their ongoing sauger telemetry study in cooperation with the Minnesota DNR. • $300 to Walleyes for Tomorrow of Neenah, Wisconsin for walleye spawning habitat enhancement and restoration on the Wolf River system. • $450 to the Central Wisconsin Walleye Club of Wisconsin Rapids for their ongoing habitat improvement and youth fishing programs in that area. • $500 to the Prime Water Anglers of Stevens Point Wisconsin for a shoreline restoration project at Collins Lake in Portage County in cooperation with the Portage County Land Conservation Dept. • $500 to the Big Stone Walleye Club of Ortonville, Minnesota for the construction and installation of public docks for shore fishing opportunities on Big Stone Lake. • $550 to the Falling Rock Walleye Club of Eastman, Wisconsin for their raising and releasing project of walleyes for the Mississippi River bordering Iowa and Wisconsin. • $350 to the Lake Country Sportsmans Club of Battle Lake, Minnesota towards the building of an ice-fishing shelter for the residents of Otter Tail Lake Nursing Home, and a fishing pier. • $450 to the Arenac County Walleye Club of Au Gres, Michigan for maintenance of pumps used in walleye fingerling rearing ponds. A portion of each entry fee paid by GNWC anglers goes into the Enhanced Fisheries fund. Grants and matching funds are awarded annually to worthwhile fishing-related projects.
