AIM® Announced Can-Am Invitational Tournament is FULL.
Plymouth, WI – November 11, 2011 AIM announced today that the field of competing anglers is full and the teams are set for the 2012 Can-Am Invitational Tournament, hosted by Bay Mills Resort & Casinos. Thirty one American Pro Walleye Anglers, led by Co-captains, Brett King and Mark Martin will fish against a team of 31 Canadian Pro Walleye Anglers, led by Co-captains John Butts and Joe Giuliani. AIM’s exclusive, Catch, Record and Release format will protect the fish and preserve the fishery for this artificial bait only tournament. The Pro Anglers from both America and Canada will be randomly paired with the Co-Angler from either country. The Bay Mills Can-Am Invitational will be held on May 31 - June 2, 2012. Three unique features will be incorporated into the tournament. First, each of the 62 Pro Anglers will receive $300 from Bay Mills Resort & Casinos at registration - before the tournament even begins - totaling $18,600. Second, the Can-AM Pro Anglers will also be competing for Team Bonuses. Each Pro Angler will be competing as a member of an American or Canadian Team with each Pro's C-R-R weight being added to their respective team's weight. The Team with the highest total C-R-R weight will each receive a $250 bonus - that is another $7,750. Third, because of Bay Mills Resort & Casinos' sponsorship, the complete cash prize and bonus payouts will make the Bay Mills Can-Am Invitational the most lucrative walleye tournament in 2012. Bay Mills Resort & Casinos is located in Brimley, Michigan on the shores of Lake Superior. From the resort's boat launch anglers have access to Lake Superior, the Saint Mary's River system, plus downstream from the international locks at Sault Ste. Marie, Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. Have the Glorvigan boys get the pro shirts ready for this one. USA RED WHITE and BLUE shirts vs the RED and WHITE Maple leaf shirts for the Canuks, eh!!
IF I remember right, the Canadians won the first one on their turf, right. Bring it on!! Scott Duncan, you crack me up. IF anyone ever calls you Larry the Cable guy at a tourney someday, that'll be me trying to get your attention. |

I hope that my post wasn't taken as negative either, just trying to figure out what "most lucrative event" means. It sounds like the casino is doing a heck of a job with their sponsorship and it should be a great time for all.
Now I just thought of a questions for our Canadian guests. Since this is a tournament, and considered income (at least in this counrty), what do you guys need for paperwork to come into the US? Is this considered work or vacation?

I WALLEYE your question was a good question and it wasn't negative it is what happens after such a question that gets me. Your question was a good honest question posted with your name which I respect. I think AIM maybe means most lucrative as in highest percentage of payout. So more money being paid out in respect to the amount coming in form entry fee's. Is that the right way to put it maybe maybe not but in any event it will be a great tournament for the sport I suspect. I am all for good open discussion but when it get's right to bashing I get irritated as it does no good for the sport we are all are engaged in. There seems to be a handful of people for whatever reason that feel the need to continually bash and attack if it something they are not a part of. Instead of giving good ideas or alternatives they hide behind false names and attack and bask and attack and bash day in and day out. But as we know they are most likely the same type of people that agree with, what are they the occupy protesters who want everything for nothing and don't want to have to work for it and when they don't get what they want it is always someone else's fault. I am speaking in general terms here. I don't care what tour, what product or what person it is there is a way to make ones point without outright attacking in a very negative manner. Every time someone does this it hurts our sport and it makes us all look bad. It does absolutely zero good and no one ever benefits from it, well maybe the person doing the attacking get's a benefit which I just don't get and never will. If as much effort went into our sport trying to build it as sometimes goes into it to tearing it apart what do you think would happen? I know, it would flourish once again and we would all benefit from anglers to tackle manufacturers, boat builders, engine builders the list goes on and on If the manufacturers are healthy and making money the anglers benefit in a big way and that my friends are you and me To CHAINWALL, unfortunately you are most likely correct and I aint seen nothing yet John Butts |

Any idea when the pairings are going to come out or are they going to wait until the day before the tournament to announce them?
