Default Musky Boat

I am looking at purchasing a new boat that will be mainly used for Musky fishing, I want aluminum either 16.5' or 17.5'. looking around I don't see that any of the manufactures have a Musky specific model, I would like to know what you look for in a Musky boat. is there currently a good choice out there? any advice will be helpful.

I would think open space and big casting deck. If you want to stick to Alum in a 17.5' range I'd suggest the Lund Pro Guide 1725. My dad runs one and I've been very impressed with the fishability of it.

Default preferences make a big difference

Everyone has their own personal preferences on what they want a boat to be. I can't imagine muskie fishing out of anything but my wide open tiller set up with huge casting deck.

Do you have ideas on what kind of set up you want? Dual console, single console, full windshield, tiller?

Front and back casting decks would be pretty important for muskie fishing regardless of what set up you choose.

I'd suggest heading to a large boat show if possible and checking out some setups. Keep in mind things like storage and electronics set up when you are checking things out. Then if you find a set up you like, ask around some boards like WC, musky hunter, muskiefirst, etc for those running that kind of boat to see how they like it.

Good luck in your search. I hope you find the perfect boat for you.

Default big bass boats

I musky fished out of my 20xd Bullet bass boat for 2 years, lots of room and great casting decks.

Look at the Lund Impact series, great casting decks and can also get the full windshield for those not so nice days.

I look for a boat with a rod locker that will accommodate my 8' rods.
A boat with a large casting deck.
A boat with a hull design that make it easy to control on those windy, cloudy muskies on the prowl days,be it under bowmount, kicker or big mill power.
A boat with a walk through windshield to hide behind on those late fall sleety ugly days the big girls are out.
A boat that will get up and down the lake at a good clip.

I found mine, an Angler 1860vs.
