Here's one from 1972 of the 'Grace Road Gang' from Tecumseh,Ontario. We spent countless hours fishing from shore on Lake St.Clair.We caught Walleye,Perch,SM & LM Bass,Muskie,Catfish,Sheephead,Stripped Bass, the odd Pike and of course those heavy weight battling Carp. Some of the Gang have passed over the years and some of us still get together for a fish occasionally.Somehow doesn't seem that long ago when looking at the photos as the memories are still quite vivid.

I'm the one holding the fish.I know, I know,... the pants, .What was I thinking?
Well, in my defence,...it was 1972!

Costa Rica trip with some friends. The boat we charted set a resort record of 11 Sailfish in one day.A trip to remember for a lifetime.Good friends, food & fishing.

The 9.5 footer is hanging as a replica mount on the wall.Good times indeed.

This was a guided trip. I have done it twice with the same guide and if I were to go back I would book him again. I am all about not paying someone for something I think I can do my self. Access to bait 1.5-2.0 Shad and salmon heads would be difficult. But the deciding factor is the river. Not only do you have to know the spots but the wind in the gorge can be crazy. Their anchoring technique is unique with hundreds of feet of rope and anchor balls and such. You also have to deal with the occasional barge. Regulations are also a concern that guide knows well. Certain dates you have to be two miles from the dam other times you can be closer. When I was there last time a guy almost sank his boat because he wasn't anchored properly. Now someone with a lot of river experience (which is not me) would have a fighting chance as the fish are in predictable spots.
It is still one of my favorite spots to fish and I look forward to the next time.

What a great picture of the gang. It kind of reminds me of the movie Sandlot where that gang got together to play baseball. Boy, it sure seems that it was a lot easier to grow up in those days.....just go down to the rive or lake and fish all day with no worries.
I hear you on those pants. I think I had a pair of wide striped pants in blue, orange and white stripes. I looked like a friggin clown. LOL.

That is an awesome mount ? Who did the mount for you? When I caught my 10' -3" and considered having a replica made, I found out there wasn't a wall big enough in the house. LOL.

The fact that we didn't have a basement didn't help any either. The wife was not having any of it in her new Texas home

Yes, they did a fine job.It was done by ' King Sailfish Mounts' in Fort Lauderdale. They were recommended by my brother who lives in Florida.

I looked at them and then another fella who was highly recommended by a bunch of folks I fished with out of Galveston. Alas, no mount, but a lot of great memories from that trip.
