Looking at the Dyson Big Ball Animal series.
We've used a purple Dyson Animal (not ball model) for 5-6 years, and it is a great vacuum.

I was in the "Dyson not worth it camp" before we bought it, figured "a vacuum is a vacuum". You'll be amazed how much dirt they pull out of your carpet.

We moved last summer and have all new carpet, leave our shoes in foyer. It still pulls a ton out the carpet, although a lot of it is the cat's fur.

There may well be other vacuums that work as well, but if this one breaks I'll buy another. Vacuums aren't a prestige item like cars, they're more like can openers. Dyson costs more and keeps selling. I don't think that could happen if they didn't give good value.

Same here, buy a Dyson you won't regret it.

I remember when we got our first one, brought it home and vacuumed the family room rug (over hard wood) that I had personally vacuumed that morning with our old vac.

I was totally embarrassed with the amount of dirt and dog hair that the Dyson pulled out of our "clean" rug.

We have the Animal Ball by Dyson. It has held up now for 8 years and it is still going strong. The only complaint I have is that I haven't been able to train the wife to not dump the collection bin in the grass on the side of the house.

Dyson's are easy to use, reliable and do a very good job of filtration. However, they are not as good as Hoover Windtunnels at getting the dirt up and out of the carpet. Question is are they worth the high price?

Hey Pat, how's the weather there. I have a son in Beavercreek.

Our weather sucks the big one.

Bobby, we had a mild winter until March which has been cold and dreary!

Thumbs up Dyson

Well we went and got a Dyson big ball animal yesterday and I'm very impressed to say the least.
I vacuumed our bedrooms thoroughly with our Hoover Wind Tunnel then did it with the Dyson
I was totally shocked to see how much stuff the Dyson picked up after the Hoover , Incredible!
Emptied it out and then did our hardwood floors which i thought were clean. only to find
dust like sand in the bin , must have picked up all the fine stuff between the hardwood itself. I also noticed it picks up very well up against the cabinets , don't have to use the crevice tool
I have always said our house is abnormally dusty (I;m Fussy) now i think this just might be the cure.
This purchase is just like when i bought our Webber BBQ I'm Impressed. The old saying is you get what you pay for is true once again.
