Default Motor cover

Hey everybody.
Awaiting the phone call to go pick up my new toy and I wanted to know if anybody uses a full motor cover to protect it from the elements? I'll be getting a 115 mercury and wanted to have some cover to protect it.. any suggestions or recommendations? ?

Thanks everybody. .

I would suggest against one. Every time you put it on and take it off you have the possibility of scratching or rubbing your cowling. I had one on my first merc and after the years you could see where the cover had rub the cowling. just my two cents.

I do cover my motors when parked, but not when traveling.

Ranger Pro is right. I bought a motor cover when my boat was new and used it only once because it left scratches. I have a Lund and always pull it it with a factory Lund boat cover but no covers on my outboards. I think it works just fine and I was worrying about covering the outboards for nothing.

I've been using a cover on my Verado for years without any scratching. I stow it covered and I travel covered.

Any high quality cover will have a soft cloth lining to prevent scratches. Even a cheap cloth cover should be soft enough to not scratch your motor. A cover will prevent stone chips that may occur when towing your boat.

I have used a motor cover and traveling will wear off the edges of the paint. If you double cover it will not wear on the edges. I use a soft cloth cover over the motor and then put the canvas cover over that.
