Mercury Idle??
So I have been having a few issues with my motor. Changed the fuel lines because some on here recommended doing so, but that doesnt seem to be the issue.
My problem is I can get it to start and run with it revved up using the fast idle, when I let the fast idle off the engine will idle very slowly and as soon as you put the motor in gear it dies. To get it to work you have to quick turn down the fast idle lever and slam it in gear and hope it catches and boom......away you go. There is no gently picking up speed. It just doesnt seem like my motor is idleing fast enough, you would think it was gonna die by just listening to it. Is there a way you can spped the idle up a bit?? 2001 Mercury EFI |

You don't say what HP it is. But, it should idle around 650. Easy adjust, just turn up the idle screw until you hit 650.

Mine was on the left (Port side) of the motor. It should be marked with a white sticker that says "idle adjust" and has an arrow. If it's like mine, backing it out will increase the idle speed (counterclockwise).
