Fishing lake pepin what to expect

Next year I am looking to fish lake pepin often as it is only about 45 mins away from me. Looking for input on this body of water such as

Best areas to put in (Pepin WI is closest to me but I could drive to lake city)

Things to pay attention to IE is it hazardous to navigate, heavy barge traffic, etc.

Thoughts on presentations and best time of day/year to fish. I have seen alot of pre spawn fishing shows on the lake but wondering about post spawn.

I plan on hiring a guide in the spring to get an idea but would like more input.
