Default Down rods on a Ranger

Any pics or info on how you Ranger guys are setting up for trolling musky?

I have a couple good ideas just want to see what others have done.

Nobodies responding to ya, not even you know who, so I'll give ya my thoughts fwiw.

Considering most guys run 100# test with the drags locked down, I'd run some sort of track system, like this.

http://shop.traxstech.com/Mounting-T...ng-Bars_c5.htm

I'd also make sure I could support the tracks with something like 3/16" aluminum plate under the gunnel.

Running at 3-5 mph and no drag, 100# or even 65# test and you get snagged or hit that 50+" fish your going to put tremendous strain on them rod holders, and the gunnel.

Over kill in this case is a good thing.

Some just screw the rod holders to the gunnel, probably ok if you trade boat in every year or two, nothing I'd do with a boat I was going to keep.

No pictures... but I use rail mounts and Folbe rod holders. I troll supermodels fast and cranks up to 21 inches and have never had an issue in any kind of weather.

I really like these, they are kind of spendy, but built like tanks.
