Unless it's health related you need different friends. Sticking you with the bill is like stealing from you. You commit, you pay.
We have boated to Sandy Point for lunch a couple of times, nice place. Good luck with the search & trip. |

Well - times getting short. I sincerely hope you make the trip and have a good time.
I considered going with you. I'm less than 100 miles from Kabetogama and I want to learn to fish it. But I'm going to Canada on June 13th. I have some issues to attend to before that. So I'm pretty busy. Also, I'm getting pretty old to fish all day long. I fish a few hours and then come to camp for a nap. Repeat as often as necessary... I still thought about it. But your rig and the quantity of your equipment suggests a troller. I'm not one of those... Ha ha. I have nothing against trolling - it's deadly. I had a boat in Bayfield WI for years. We always trolled for trout/salmon. It was great fun. I remember trolling with single planer boards in the early -70's. I just prefer jigging and back trolling. I still thought about it. I though if you like to troll I could bring my Alaskan tiller and just pay cabin/food for the week. You'd have to cover your own boat gas. But time it too short. Sorry. And I mean that - My brother and I and his son used to go to Canada together. Every year one or two guys (and maybe their kid(s)) would want to go. As winter turned to spring, they would start to pull back. By May they were out of the trip. I told my brother that we know we're going - we'll rent a cabin for us. If someone else wants to go - they can rent their own cabin. It sucks - but it's happened to me too many times. My brother is now too crippled to go. His kid has his own family. He (kid) vacations with them - as he should. I've been going to the same place (in Canada) for 35 years. They reserve a cabin for me and if I bring guests - that's great. If I don't, they just charge me for a single person. I feel very fortunate to have such a gig. Well - I typed way more than I intended to. Again, have a good and safe trip. You'll pass within 15 miles of me - south of Eveleth. Honk when you pass Hwy 16 east...
