....not sure I can ever recall having it done? Anyone ever do it, or is it overkill? Thanks, Gregory

I believe that it is in the best interest of the owner to balance any tires that run on the road at over 40 mph.
Of course this includes trailer tires, as well as the spare tire on the trailers. -------------- I have gone by trailers which did not have balanced tires and some of them had tires that were hopping completely off of the ground due to their poor balance. Be safe |

Yes, it needs to be done. |

Absolutely balance them.
All that money on top of your trailer and you question the validity of balancing your trailer tires? Maybe locally you could get away with it but what happens when you get an urge to follow the bite to distant shores and your tires are cupped, worn and not suitable for highway use? Just my opinion ... Morton |

I have to agree with the others. you need to have it done to trailer tires or it will shorten the life of your tires.

I've always had my trailer tires balanced at an automotive shop. After reading the attached article I'm now wondering if it has accomplished as much good as I thought. I don't recall any special adaptor being used when they were balanced. Anyone ever run into this issue? Thoughts or comments?
"Most automotive centers are not equipped with the proper wheel balancing machine to correctly balance most trailer wheels. Most trailer wheels are a lug centric design. Meaning, that the wheels are centered on the hub by the torque of the lug nuts. Many automotive wheels are a hub centric design. Many automotive centers use a computerized "cone" balancer which works great on hub centric wheels, but not on lug centric trailer wheels. In order to balance trailer wheels, an adapter must be used on the cone balancer to correctly balance trailer rims. " Last edited by Shotgun; 08-14-2016 at 11:25 AM. |

Well, it just so happens I got my 2017 Shorelandr Custom (by Lund) last week, Aug. 11th. There are no balancing weights on any of the three wheels, inside or out. I am contacting Shorelandr to see what they might have to say on the issue. Thanks, Gregory

I thought balancing was for ride comfort in vehicle. I would not waste my money.
