Not to hijack, but in the dual bilge pump case. One pump having a float and one being controlled by the manual dash switch, do you want the float switch controlled pump to activate when you power on the manual pump? That is, should both pumps run simulataneously when the switch on the dash is turned "on"? This allows two pumps on when/if the float switch fails.

If the float switch and pump are working, they should both be running anyway. If the auto-rigged pump is broken, you wouldn't want it in the circuit with the other pump. I suppose this could help if the float switch went bad, but the pump worked still? I'd rather rig the auto pump via an on-on switch to have a bypass for the float, and then another separately rigged manually switched bilge pump.
