Shoreland'r light problem
You guys have helped me troubleshoot in the past. Here's the current problem.
Just for ID purposes, 2001 Shoreland'r single axle, over 80" width, so I have the thress lights on the rear crossmember. Both marker lights on the same side fender are out. The tail light on that side works fine, the front marker on the that side works fine. Pulled the light out and swapped it for another, and it works fine in the new location. Checked and appears to have no voltage at the little plug on the back side of the light. Only checked the amber one so far. Checked at the split at the tongue. There's a split for the wires on that side with a plug, and two wires go into the plug, 3 come out and go into the trailer frame, along with a white (ground). The third wire and the ground only appear to go to the trailer marker light right there at the split. I can pull the wires and they move from that light. They do not appear to travel down the trailer frame to the fender on this side. Any idea where the power feed is coming from? Could it be running from the driver's side of the rig through the crossmember? Seems odd to me that both seemed to quit at once. BTW, there are two plugs and two wires into each light. I've pulled wire out of the trailer frame, and it looks like there is a lot of wire, but can't seem to find any defect in the wires. Everything else appares to be fine, it's only these two fender lights, amber and red, on the same fender. |

Pull the taillight on that side off, I think the feed for the fender lights comes from the taillight all the way at the back.

That's it!!
Thanks so much, HRG. You're right on the money. Connection corroded and brown wire broken right inside the channel near the tail light.
Thank you again. I was almost out of hair.... |
