Default Kabekona Lake MN

I was looking at the Kabekona Lake gill net sampling from 2008 and noticed no muskie were trapped. I find that very odd. I figured some muskie might meander their way from Leech Lake over to there. Any confirmations or stories to refute this? I'm heading up there the end of September to my father's place.
I look at the Leech lake survey and shows only 1 muskie caught (which we all know Leech has lots in there). So is this a case of a bunch of old walleye guys claiming there are no muskie just because they haven't caught any?

The gill nets rarely take muskies. You can't rely on this method of sampling to determine if and how many muskies are in a lake.

For one, the mesh is too small to routinely capture the average sized muskie, but you will find that occasionally a very large muskie is captured.

I have never heard of muskies in that lake. By nature of being connected to Leech, there may be a few. I have friends with a cabin on the lake and I just checked with them and they say they never heard of a muskie being caught there.

I found a guide that fishes Kabekona and he is confirming he has never seen or heard of a muskie coming from there in 40 years. I think I will go cry in my pillow now.

I wish, but father's place is on Kabekona. I'll just make the best of it and see how big of a pike I can get.
