Locks are for honest people, thieves pop them off like nothing. If some lousy POS wants your stuff, a lock sure won't do much.

It speaks to the sad truth that the drug abuse problem has found every corner of the country, even the most remote areas

PapaFishmaster,

Great point! I have family and friends in law enforcement and what you said is so true. I don't want to get off track from the main topic in this thread but nothing is safe anymore, they will pawn/sell anything that they can to support their habit. As others have said the best thing to do is limit the attraction to your rig as much as possible and make sure you have good insurance.

I guess I've been pretty lucky. I've been boating for almost 40 yrs now. never had a spare tire stolen. been using an electric winch with the battery mounted to the tongue of the trailer for about 15 yrs and knock on wood but so far haven't had my battery stolen.

did have someone take a shovel and break out a window on my van while I was 4 wheeling down at black house mountain in tenn. they took all my tools but left the shovel behind. your not going to stop a thief. locks are made to keep honest people honest.

Last Chance,
Since the thieves left the shovel behind, did you take the shovel to your local police station and have them check the shovel handle for finger prints?

They might be able to put a face to the thieves.

Be safe
