My 14"Maxxis trailer tires are working well after one year. I got them from discounttire.com if I recall.

FF,
Buy a tire of the correct diameter and size, with a suitable max load imprinted on the side of the tire.

You do these things, and you should be good to go.

Most of todays tires, auto, truck, or trailer will work just fine.

Be safe

Thanks for the info. Yes, that is my correct size. Have to decide between the Goodyears and the Maxxis.

That's a very wide brush that you are using to paint the picture....not all brands and models have the same quality and performance, far from it. Tires are critical to the safety of your vehicle, boat, and people. Search the many posts on WC or other sites about tire failures.

ffishman,
I put the 185 Goodyear Marathons on my trailer last year. Changed out a set of bias ply tires. Being radials they do have a lot more bounce than the bias tires removed. However, I monitor my tire and bearing temperatures with a infared themometer. These radials are running 30 to 40 degrees cooler than the previous bias ply tires, 100 to 110 vs. 135 to 145. I do run them at max pressure of 50 psi. One trip to Canada and numerous trips last year to So. Dakota with no issues so far. Good luck!

Since it was the Goodyear that blew, and I now find I can get the Maxxis, I think I will go that route and get the Maxxis. Only problem is delivery time. With Tire Rack and the Goodyears I can have them by next Wed. I have to wait till Performanc Plus opens and find out how long delivery will take from them.

I'm going to take a ride out to F&F in Sycamore later today, want to ride along and look at these Carlisles?

I decided to go with the Maxxis. Only problem, nobody has 5 of them. PerformancePLus in Ca has two, and thinks they can get the other 3 Monday. Have to wait and see.
