In my tyee, I never have to leave my seat. I rest my arm on the gunwale, sit back and fish. Remote works best for me. Control isn't a factor, almost always run the I pilot for steering.

Depends if your trolling big open waters then I would definitely go remote. Like me I use mine a lot to troll wing dams on the mighty Mississippi I want quick steering response so tiller for me.

I upgraded to a new boat with a very small splashwell, so I could more easily use the tiller. I prefer this in the small tight areas we fish, and I rarely, if ever, fish from the helm seat. I did get the electric start though.

What type of water are you going to be fishing? I see that you are in SE Wisconsin. If a majority of your time is on Lake Michigan, then I might consider the remote steer. Just my two cents. Joe

Couple thoughts:
If you have an ipilot or motor guide equivalent your rig just became a much better walleye getter... Drop ipilot, Start kicker, place in forward and start dropping lines. Remote control makes you freer to move about the boat. Not sure if you handline but that can be another technique to consider your personal preference. Growing up fishing tillers I enjoyed that similar experience when trolling. Add a RPM servo aka troll master or itroll and control becomes better. If you enjoy sitting behind the drivers seat you might prefer remote. Comes down to your personal preference and fishing styles. |

Tiller with tie bar to main motor. Can operate from helm or disconnect tie bar and use tiller.

With remote, you are sitting away from your rods in the front of the boat. You'll be spending most of your time looking backwards towards them. Tiller, you are right next to them. You can look forward to steer the boat and use your peripheral vision left and right to keep an eye on your rods and you can grab and set them when a strike occurs.

i have a remote on mine and wished i would have gotten the tiller.always use my ipilot to steer.also have the extra cables at th e back of the boat from the controls that u would't have with a tiller.power trim electric start on a tiller would be my next choice.
