Tourney,
It would be even more interesting to vacuum your home with your Hoover vacuum. Then, vacuum your home with your new Vacuum. Then, after using both the Hoover, and the Dyson, go over the home again with the Hoover again. If you use a reasonable vacuum, right after you vacuum with another vacuum - in a home that is more than a few years old, you can generally go over the same area 3 or 4 times in a row and get quantities of dust and dirt Simply put, the typical vacuum, no matter how good it sucks and brushes - leaves "stuff" behind that another brusher and sucker will extract even more from the carpet, the carpet pad, and from under the pad. But, in any event - you have purchased an excellent vacuum and may you enjoy it for many many years. Good luck |

Does everyone use their household vacuum to clean out their boat or is there a good handheld vacuum that does well on boats?

Tourney,
The obvious solution to the use of any vacuum is the solution that is being adapted by many many home owners these days. Simply put - they either build a new home with no carpet in the home or take their existing home and remove all carpet from their home. No carpet, no need for a vacuum. But, the flip side is that if you have all hard surfaced floors, you then need to look at good hard surface floor scrubbers that can do a good job of scrubbing these large areas of hard surfaces. But, the one good thing about a hard surfaced floor, is that when the floor looks and feels clean - it is clean and you will be good to go. But, that is a change of subject and the subject of an entirely different thread if one wished to pursue it. Good luck with your new Vacuum. |

To clean boats, it is really tough to beat a super sucking 6-10 hp shop vacuum.
Also, use a good car cleaning end, as well as a good corner brush and good flat brush. Works excellent and leaves no stone or leaf unturned. It will also suck up lead sinkers as well as unhooked fish hooks and line left on the floor. If you wet it down first and put a bit of shampoo on it, it will also suck up the blood and slime from the carpet at the same time if you wish. Be safe |

That's what I've been using but haven't tried the wet and shampoo tactic. I was hoping someone knew of something smaller, maybe even handheld. Thanks
