Default Alumacraft Navigator 175 tiller

I've been looking at getting into a 17-18' tiller and this looks like a great option. Anyone have any opinions on this boat? What would be the top speed with a Yamaha 75? Also, does it handle rough water well? I do fish bigger water but can't afford a great big water boat, just want something I can feel safe in and control in windy conditions (hence the tiller).

Thanks,

Joe

I own a 175 Dom and you will love the boat. You can find specs at
alumacraft website. Here you go.. http://alumacraft.com/images/stories...75-F75TLRB.pdf

I have the boat. While I am not calling out the previous poster , you wont see 36 mph without the 90 mod and a stainless prop. I ran many combos with the stock 75 and different props . 32 -33 was best. I pulled the restrictor , technically making it a 90 and tried multiple stainless props. I am currently running a 16 Vengeance with the holes plugged but I drilled 1/8 " holes in them . Gives me good holeshot and 36-37 top end. Getting that out of a stock propped 75 would be a stretch.

Default Alumacraft Competitor

Probably makes sense to compare the Navigator to the new 2011 Competitor. Same hull, but has center rod storage and more livewell space. Both very similar just different finishing touches. Cabelas in Rogers, MN has a demo Competitor on the floor... with Yamaha 75 for about 16,400 (with 2% discount, demo discount, etc). No electronics, but a good price to start at.

I had a Navigator 175 with a 75 Yamaha tiller and was a very nice boat. It did about 32 MPH and handled Mille Lacs pretty good. However, the ride in my 1785BT is nicer (smoother/dryer and tracks better). The Nav175 does have more room though (wider).

Have fun looking for your new rig!
