Default Should my Humminbird auto recognize Ipilot Link

So question is should my 1199 automatically recognize the Link. Do I need to have the boat outside where it can get a clear GPS signal. I have looked through both owners manuals and cannot make heads or tails of how to properly make sure there connected. Any help would be great! They are connected via ethernet with no hub.

It should auto recognize when you deploy the motor.

There is a relatively recent software update for the link controller and remote that you should load. It will help clear up any lingering communication issues.

After looking at some stuff last night I thought it should also. Motor was in down position and powered up and there was nothing.......

I just went through exactly the same issue when I installed my ONIX10 SI, and the Link software update cleared everything up for me.

It will be on the Humminbird website. You'll need to add i-Pilot Link to your account there to access the software update. Be sure to strictly follow the procedure and sequence for performing the updates.

I just installed Link and the directions say to update the unit at time of installation. I have 6.74 on the graph and there was a new Link update released last week.
