Default Boat Buckle

How tight do you make your boat buckles on the transom of your boat. I got a new to me boat and the boat buckles seem to slip when you want to give it that one last click to make it really tight. Works fine otherwise. Both sides do it. Am I trying to overtighten?

Default boat buckles

I thought the same thing when I first started using them.Ive used them now for 2 years on my current boat and you dont have to crank them like a ratchet strap. When they are tight you are done dont need to give it that little extra

I load the boat, put on the transom straps, then tighten up the winch strap and the bow strap.
When done, the transom straps are bow string tight and they stay that way.
