I think that it is very sad that several folks suggest not to call the IRS on a tax situation.
I don't disagree with their advice and their comment on not having your interest at heart. But, it is still sad, that you can not ask who should be the most knowledgeable folks on the issue. Take care |

Unfortunately, the IRS will tell you that relying on their "advice" is no defense.

I don't have much faith in over-the-phone IRS advice, when the IRS won't take responsibility for giving accurate advice. I have first hand experience with calling an IRS office in Chicago for help with an IRS form, reaching their self-declared expert and then teaching her the right way to fill out the form.
