Big Stone Opener!

I'm going for my third trip in 15 years and am very excited this year because of the early warmth. Who's going? Anybody have any ideas to share as to baits, strategies, colors, or bars? Actually, there aren't that many bars so I think I have that covered -- I mean the bars in town, not in the lake! Seriously, I'm thinking of finding warmer water in bays, jig and a minnow, maybe troll some shallow cranks along the northern shorelines. Does that sound good? Any other ideas? Will be staying at the Econolodge 4/20-21. Give me a yell on channel 74 if you want to hook up. Who knows, maybe I can help you out...?

I won't be there for opener but a safe bet would be pitching or drifting jigs shallow on the north end. That's where I would start!

OK it worked! The gentilman that suggested the north end of the lake isn't blowing smoke! FISH CRICK with jigs and twister tails has worked well in the past. The " bandit" earlier this week, caught 12-14" walleyes pre- spawn.Last tues. post spawn northerns from shore,in the hills, both! Bait witin 2' from shore. We will have post spawn females by opener. The bars are the answer! I own JB's in corona, SD. 10 miles from the lake. Not to be mistaken for the the wildlife, what we lovingly call the WILDWIFE, bar, next door.Some SD pros and the local yocals hang here. I can set you up with lodging on TRAVERSE LAKE, where I FISH, if you like. Remember, if you get so drunk, you can't fish. You might be a "REDNECK".
