Terrova/Ram Mount
Do any of you have a Ram Mount to support the shaft of your Terrova. If you do, how do you deal with a cover?

I have mine on a quick release bracket, so when trailering with the cover on I just take the TM off and put it in the truck. Cover fits better that way and I don't have to worry about anyone messing with it on trips. The RAM is nice for local trips and running on the water though! All that was assuming you meant boat cover. If not, disregard. |

On my 621 the cover goes over the Terrova with no problem.

I have a snap cover that just covers the cockpit of the boat. I'm not sure how far back you have to mount this Ram support bar. I don't have the rail system where you can just mount it to something that slides along the gunnel rail. I'm hoping that I don't have to put a hole in my cover to run this support bar through. I'm going to have the 54" shaft on my new Terrova.

Well, you will just have to dry fit everything and see. You have to mount the support above your depth adjustment collar on the shaft, so up by the head. You'll have to install the motor before buying the RAM anyways to see if you need the short or the long version of the RAM.. you can see then where it would need to be mounted and if it will work. You don't NEED the RAM so if it wont work, I wouldn't sweat it too much. They are nice to have, and certainly a huge peace of mind when the head isn't bouncing around when going down the road, but minn kota doesn't include one with the TM nor mention it being suggested.

bassin08,
My boat has a snap on cover, however I do have the Lund sport track that I use to mount the Ram mount. I have the mount up by the top of the Terrova shaft for maximum support. When I first put it on I took the boat down to my local marine canvas shop. They cut a hole for the Ram mount with a slit going to the edge. They added a little material to strengthen the hem and added velcro to close the slit. I think that they also had to add a couple of snaps to secure the ends under the velcro. All in all it took about 30 minutes and cost 30 bucks and it not only works well but looks good. Sorry, it's up in the rafters of the garage and it's too cold for pictures today. andersaki |

Unless the boat flexes, there is no need for a support on a Terrova.
In rough water or trailering slide the depth collar all the way down so the Terrova can not accidentally deploy. Nothing else is needed.

I've never been able to get mine to bounce enough to be of any concern.
