Default Which Oil for Yamaha VMAX 200

I have a 2002 Vmax 200. I don't have a manual for the motor. Which to use. Friend tells me to use the Opti-max oil. Is that OK?

Buck,
Go here: http://www.yamaha-motor.com/outboard...d_manuals.aspx

and download your owners manual. I don't know what year yours is.

Thanks.

Plain old Yamalube...I would have thought it would be different.

Default If it suggests yamalube

Why would a feller not use Cabelas semi syn oil instead. I have not bought yamaha lube before but I did drain out my tank in my new to me boat. Reports on Yamaha lube were it carbons up. At $30 gallon for Yamahalube compared to $10 a gallon Cableas semi onsale. Oil data stated there was molly in Y lube other than that all oils similar.

ALL oil can cause a 2-stroke to carbon up. In most cases it's a air/fuel ratio or runnability issue.

I don't know the Cabela's product and I've never used it. I do sell oil for a living and can tell you that $10.00 a gallon for a semi-syn is to cheap.

To put this in perspective I recently saw an invoice where Safety Kleen paid $4.50 a gallon for drain oil. Do the math. Safety Kleen is paying through the nose right now for used drain oil because Valvoline has bought up all the "recycled" base stock product for their new recycled line.
