Default Port Side Steering

Just curious. Do they steer boats from the left or port side in England?

NO

LOL I believe sitting on the starboard side comes from using tillers/ The way the prop rotates means that if you let go of the tiller the torque from the motor is likely to push the tiller towards you rather than away from you, which is safer... Never tested it but there might be some sense in it. When they went to wheel boats they just kept them that side.

Now can anyone explain why Americans use right hand wind baitcasters? Most Europeans use left hand wind as it's a million times more efficient than constantly swapping hands!
