I notice how wide it is also, and heavy - the HP might make up for that in the 17.5' category.

Can anyone comment on how adequate a 23 gallon gas tank is for a 90 hp 4 stroke, or DFI 2 stroke? Considering the last 5 gallons are usually the empty range, that would leave about 18 gallons of usable fuel before nervousness sets in - how long will 18 gallons last? Is that a fill up daily tank size for a 90?

FWIW, I've tracked my fuel burn for the last 3 years with my 17'/75 Opti, during my week-long trip to the TFF in northern WI. For the week, I've averaged 10 gallons used, +/- a gallon. Certainly, I'm not making 25 mile runs across big water at WOT, and I'm not motor-trolling, but a 23gal tank would suit me fine.

HRG

for kicks, here's a test report from Mercury, of a 90 Opti on a 17'/1300# Crestliner, right at about a 4.5-5 mpg average at cruise.

This looks like an excellent rig.
With the type construction being used, it should be a reasonable priced unit.
This type construction - i.e. the VEC -- construction is being used by other plastic boat manufacuturer with geat success.

My neighbor has a 20 foot glastron that uses the VEC construction and it is a very tough well made, wonderfully riding boat.

With a 90hp motor on it, it will be a 40 or close to 40 mph boat.

With the width and other features, should be a great boat.

If a person wants a big casting deck, this is the one for you.

But if a person is working big water all of the time with big waves, it might have been nicer if the front deck were lower to make for a better fishing platform for the rough water use. That is personal preference.

Nice to see new players in the market.

Take care

Now take a look at the 1750 side console with a 150hp rating on it.
That will be a nice quick boat with all of the extra nice features on it.

The first thing that jumps out at me is they put those darn rod tubes in. A poor design feature.

Kind of heavy at 1600#.

Default Beam vs. Length

I'm not impressed with this boat.

Not a boat designer, but have studied tried and proven designs.

In my opinion, Larson is marketing a boat by numbers, not performance.

There is a tendency of all boat manufactures to broaden the beam and ignore the length.

Question larson

And the problem with a bigger beam with a 16 degree dead rise would be what?

A wide beam is nice. Really nice. But a 16* deadrise is pretty shallow for a Deep V rough water boat.
