I would look at it like a great opportunity to lose that pesky 15 extra pounds... after that was accomplished, I'd activate the undamaged EPIRB I had stored in an insulated ceramic container.

Throw my two drift socks out in attempt to keep boat facing the waves, grab flashlight, compass, try cell phone, attach all life jackets to the one I'm wearing, gulp any remaining bourbon, relax as I'm in good hands with Allstate.

And all I thought I had to worry about was the boat plug. Good thing the lakes that I fish if I were out 20 miles I would be back on land. I also rely heavily on common sense and try to avoid Murfys law.

Personally, i'm not sure anchoring in heavy seas would be a good idea in a smaller boat. I'd think you'd end up taking lot of water over the bow. a "sea anchor or couple drift socks might be the better way to go? Hopefull, the wind would just blow me into Put In Bay and I'd wait it out over several cold ones
