I was new to Flashers this year as well. Ended up getting a Marcum VX-1i for Christmas. I like it a lot. Only thing I can see wanting in the future is a moveable zoom window. The VX-1i has a zoom fixed to the bottom 5' only. Works well for the pike and walleye I fish for.
