Default New 200 Mercury

Ordered a new 2025 Lund Impact today, wasn't sure if I wanted the 200 Verado 4 cylinder or the Pro 4 stroke 6 cylinder. I see there is a big difference block size. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Larry

The big difference would be weight and every thing that comes with extra weight.

Go with the Verado L4. Better weight to performance ratio with the L4.

Does the 200 Pro version have the electric power steering like the rest of the six cylinder Verados? Reading prior posts on here people have had to do some alterations on their battery setup to keep the electric steering from killing their batteries when they troll a fair amount. I haven't seen it first hand since I have the I4 Verado with the standard Sea Star hydraulic steering though. Might add extra costs with battery isolators etc.

The batteries would be an issue I think you have enough room to support some extra batteries. I think the complaint about the L4 Verado is that it really doesn't put out any more than the 175, and the Optimax puts out way more power. You have a 20 foot boat when the warranty runs out on the Pro200 you could flash the ECU and give the boat the power it deserves. From a price, practicality, and bank charger, the L4200 is the way to go, that is a nice boat your getting I am slightly jealous!

Default 200 verado

Have the same Impact 2025 and 200 4 cyl verado setup. Just got back from a week of fishing in northern Minnesota. Love the package. Fished some days with 4 and 5 in boat. Gets up on plain fine-upper 40's with 2 people and full tanks. Lazer 14x19 prop. I am happy.

I'm going to suggest the exact opposite of everyone else. Get the 6 cylinder.

Trolls slower, runs smoother, electric over hydraulic steering is a fantastic option. You'll love it on the 2025 Impact - that boat will handle the weight fine, won't notice it.

Talked with a mercury rep and he suggested I go with the 6 cylinder pro as the L 4 will soon be going away. The L isn't a bad motor they just have a higher percent of warranty work on them. The 150 4 cylinder 4 stroke will stretch out to 175 and the 6 cylinder will take over 200 hp and up to 350 hp.

Definitely the 200 Prothe 4cylinder is a wimp on that boat and most heavy Vs,.its only $1000 more and then you get the better steering, it's really a 225 hp motor so your 2025 will be powered correctly. I sell both and am ordering our Impact with a Pro also. The New Mercury Big Block 4 strokes will be out I've heard next year, however everyone at Brunswick is super quiet. A buddy at a boat factory told me of 2 new Mega HP 4strokes comin out soon in the 350 and 400hp camp, offshore boats are getting more and more prevalent so Merc has to keep up, I hope they have the DtS and steering, their NewLineup whatever it is I'm sure will be state of the art, especially with Evinrudes G2, and Yamahas Offshore lineup
