Default Cooler

Hello...my boat has built in cooler that i never used but decided i would start. Just to check i poured a bunch of water in it and waited at the back for it to come out....nothing came out but i could hear water running and the water level went down?? Whats with that?? So i took the access hatch off and the cooler drains to the bottom of the boat. This got me thinking how good that would be if my son spilled his milk in the cooler and it "curdled in the bilge" that would be good right? On the other side of the boat is a "bait well" that i don't use either but the drain worked in it...so for $3:00 i bought a T fitting and spliced it in. It all drains now. Does that not seem a bit cheap for a $70thousand dollar boat or am i off side on this one.

I did notice that. I use my cooler alot and have had occassion when something spilled in the cooler that washed down the drain. I just washed the bilge when I got home. Not much different that all the stuff spilled on the floor that goes into the bilge I guess.
The only problem with what you have done is if you use your baitwell on recirculate. It will suck air from your cooler drain or whatever else you have in there. Your system will not work for those of us that use the baitwell. If you ran your drain line and spliced into the drain line behind the selector switch by the baitwell pump it would work.

I had my cooler/storage compartment converted so I can use it as a livewell also. It drains out the back like my other rear livewell. I have never used it as a livewell, but nothing would drain into the bilge if I used it as a cooler.

I suppose the builder is thinking:
-"Why complicate things? "

Where does the cooler drain if you had it in the back of your truck?
