We'll we are thinking we might try a windshield boat once and see if we like it, have always had a tiller looking for pros and cons on the yarcraft 186.

Sorry my list got left off---

Pros

Nice quiet protected ride behind the windshield--

Kids and wife like the walk thru a lot vs tiller layout

Look/lines of the boat

Better protect those expensive electronics from the elements

No wind/rain/bugs constantly in your eyes when moving or drifting

Fun for tubing and skiing as well as fishing (no doubt this is a fishing first boat though)

I like the feel of hands on the wheel and throttle in a boat

Cons

Boat control in 17+ mph conditions---although the 186 would be great as well---the tiller would most likely have better control in heavy wind conditions

Open deck layout on the tiller feels more spacious

Wiping the water spots off the windshield

Overall,

Storage is probably comparable----resale is probably about the same the first few years and than i give the advantage to the walk thru to hold value better after that---fishability the same (I know this one is controversial but that's my opinion)---cost looks about the same.

I see more pros than cons but, of course I biased, I just bought a 186.
