Default 620 FS Prop Recomendationa

I currently have a 2015 620 with a 250 Mercury Optimax PRO XS. Currently have a 21p rev 4 on the boat and only getting about 5400 RPM at full plane. Speed is about 52 on GPS. Boat gets up on plane just fine even with a heavy load. Trying to find a better prop on increase RPMs and speed without taking to much away from hole shot. Any recommendations? Thanks

The speed you are seeing is very low. Do you have a jack plate on your boat? You will lose a little hole shot but the Tempest 21 is a much better prop for top end on your set up.

No jack plate. that's why I am looking for what other people are running with this combo. Dealer gave me a 23p tempest. I knew it wasn't right, but decided to try it and confirm. Hole shot with it was terrible and was still not getting the RPMs and speed I feel I should be getting.

Are you sure the engine is mounted high enough? I have a 620 and the cavitation plate needs to be at least 2 inches above the bottom of the transom. Once i got a jack plate and did that my RPM's went from the low 5's to 5800 and speed from low 40's to 48. And thats with a 200HP 4 stroke. I could probably even go a little higher and hit 6000 and 50mph.

19 Rev 4 is what you need.

I run a 2013 620VS. Slightly different hull, as compared to the FS. I have a 250 ProXS on my boat also.

I highly recommend trying a 22P Bravo I XS. If it is the new model with 8 PVS holes, plug 4 of them with the solid plugs.

My rig ran right at 59 fully loaded with three guys, full fuel, full live well, etc with the 22 Bravo with no jack plate. Over 60 easily with a lighter load. I have since added an 8" jack plate and moved to a 24 Bravo and am getting 62.5-65mph, depending on load.

My boat also came with a 23 Tempest and it was a dog. 54 mph and only 5500 rpm. Every aspect of boat performance is better with the Bravo...better hole shot, better ride and handling, lower plane speed, faster top end.

JDW do you know at what elevation you are typically running? I have the same setup as you and have a 21 tempest and get about 5500 rpm's and 56mph with my setup at Fort Peck Reservoir and about 60 mph on Lake Sakakawea ND? Feel like I should do a little better than that on RPM's and speed.

I am usually between 1000-1700 ft for elevation.

With my 22 Bravo and no jackplate I generally saw 5900-5980 RPM's, depending on load.

I still run the 22 with the jack plate on big water (throttle response is great), but I could over rev it if I tried. My 24 with jack plate is 5750-5830 RPM. Hole shot is still good, just not quite as good as the 22 and plane speed is a little faster.

Thanks for the help. I have a 19p rev four I think I can try first from a buddy, and if that isn't what I like I will look at the 22 Bravo.
