I always clean the grill after each use before the oils and seasonings cool and solidify. I use a combo of wire brush, putty knife, and foil. A few times a year I scrape the grease out of the grill's base and hood and wipe it off with some cheap vegetable oil which helps bind the residual grease and debris to the rag.

Me too. I like that response. Wire brushes clean grills.

When I was a small child a neighbor kid choked and died from a sunflower seed shell, but I still see lots of people eating them.

A neighbor across the lake was on the operating table twice when they finally found a bristle in his tonsil.... Since then I won't go near a wire grill brush, at home or anywhere.

Glad you feeling the odds are with you. Good luck with that.

I quit using wire brushes a few years ago, when I did find a wire that had stuck onto the cooking grate. Glad I caught it. Now I use a ball of crumpled up heavy duty tinfoil. Seems to work just as well, maybe better, and for sure safer.

I don't see the need to get things spotlessly clean with a brush and just use the metal scraper blade which is on the back of my cheap brush to get the chunks off. The rest is patina.

Yep that's a great comparison, was a post surgical nurse for 10 yrs. If you had a clue, you would be little smarter than Jethro..

I power wash my grill and my smokers once a year. Otherwise I just use heat and technique to keep the grates clear of large clumps. I like grills/grates coated in past cooks.
