Yamaha F150 Alarm?????
While fishing this weekend, the alarm on my Yamaha F150 went off. The motor only has 6 hours on it and the alarm only sounds when it is in neutral. It also sounds when the motor is off and the key is turned on. Have a good water stream and it is not hot. It hasn't used a drop of oil.
Took it to a Yamaha Dealer in Rice Lake who put it on the computer. First thought it had to do the the linkage in the shifter but after making a few adjustments, the alarm still went off. They got a code that they didn't know so will have to call Yamaha tomorrow AM. They said it was not running hot and the oil pressure was good and to go ahead and run it. Fished the rest of the weekend and the motor run great, just had to put up with the alarm going off when shifted into neutral. Just checking to see if anyone else has had this problem??? |

My '07 F150 did the same thing 2 years ago.
The float in the fuel/water seperator was stuck. It got in the full of water position when the motor was tilted up and stuck there. They had to replace the whole seperator unit to fix the problem. My dealer had received a bulliten about the sticking float from Yamaha. The alarm going off when the key was turned on but the motor wasn't running is what set them in the right direction. They called Yamaha and they said it was either water in the gas or a problem with the fuel/water seperator. It goes in on Monday to be checked and fixed. I will post the out come when I get the boat back. I know the filter is down near the battery but can't remember if there are wires and a sensor there or is the sensor on the motor?

Got a call from the dealer and they have the motor fixed. It was a problem with the sensor in the fuel/water seperator. Thanks to everyone for their replys and input.
