Default Mixing tm batteries?

Hey guys,
I am re-wiring my trolling motor setup in an 1825 rebel. I have a group 24 battery in right now, and I need to add another battery for my 80# terrova. I had planned to go to 2 group 31's. Due to space constraints, it would only be possible to add 1 31 with the existing 24.
Is it ok to run 2 different groups of batteries wired in series? Or should I stick to 2 group 24's? I don't have any extra space in the boat to go to a larger battery.

Batteries should be kept the same size as not to overheat the smaller one. Will two 27 s or 29s fit?

Thanks for the advice.
I really don't have any room for anything bigger. It's unfortunate, because I am hearing that the 24's won't last all that long with the terrova. I suppose I could look at turning them sideways. I will check and post back.
Thanks again.

Dale,
Any thing can be made to fit.

Just be creative and change your battery area to allow for the installation of the two group 31 batteries.

It is remarkable that when you get creative, you can make special things happen.

Good luck

Dale,
Look into a dual battery try like this, it should require less room than 2 separate trays.

Dale. Not only is it NOT a good idea to mix battery types, it's also NOT a good idea to place batteries into service at different time. Start fresh with two batteries of the same type purchased and installed at the same time.

That's good to know. I will look into relocating my trays and running some extensions for my 3 bank.
If I am going to put in new batteries, would you folks recommend wet cell or agm?

Thanks for the help.

Dale. Here is some great reference material for you. http://marine-electronics.net/techar..._faq/b_faq.htm I think it will answer almost any question you have regarding your batteries. AGM's will definitely cost you more but I think there are lots of other good alternatives for a lot less money.

Default Group 29

I went with group 29 batteries and have no problem running all weekend and I fish pretty hard. If needed charge them at the end of the day, 24's should get you all day I would think.
