How Tie On Eye-Dropper Ice Lure?
I got some more lures for ice fishing and noticed a few from this company/brand have a different setup on the front of it. I'm prone to remove it entirely and just quick snap or direct tie to the hole, but would like your thoughts on what to do first.
How many snap/tie to the existing clip on there and how many don't? How about just putting on a split ring instead? I do not trust this set up. I had an expensive camera once that had similar attachments for the neck strap and it flipped forward unhooking both sides at the same time. I'm thinking if the fish flipped or turned a certain way, he certainly could free himself. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks. MWG Last edited by iBfisherman; 12-17-2014 at 05:36 AM. |

I have use this clip on flies in the spring and lost several blue gills using it.

That blows Ndstallmann. There's enough reasons to lose a fish, but for the equip to help do this isn't right.
Thanks for the feedback. MWG |

These are called "fast snaps". I tried then for part of an ice season and just didnt like them. Went back to just tying direct when fishing for walleye and smaller, or using a duolock snap when fishing lakers/pike instead.

I use this type of snap for panfish both summer and winter and have had no problems. I have found using a hemostat to hold the snap makes for a easy knot tie.

Yeah I used fast snaps almost exclusively for ice fishing. No problems with them yet. They are a little hard to change lures when your hands are cold, but still far easier than the cut-n-tie.

I was in a hurry the other day and used the quick connect. I had meant to remove it. Lure stayed and caught a few rock bass. I just removed it yesterday and started using a small snap swivel like I have attached below.
Why not just use something like this? The one I have is small. iBf |
