It will be interesting to see if that rate decreases with the people being treated in the US..

Too few are treated in US (and surviving) while there are many fatalities in Africa. So no - overall rate will not decrease on world wide scale.

Now another confirmed case in New York from a Doctor, no less. You would think if anybody would understand the risks it would be a doctor. I guess he was "self monitored" because of his qualifications early on. He supposedly only came into "close" contact with four people, including his "Fiancee"? And he was avoiding contact with others? I guess that includes riding the subway 3 times and bowling plus going out to eat at a restaurant. Oh yeah, a taxi cab, too...........

Seems one of the symptoms is the uncontrollable urge to jump on some kind of mass transit like an airplane or subway. Wow.......

Here's a pretty good article with some facts on its very recent spread:

I am sick listening to the news and hearing how media attempts to portray this disease as "no big deal" when more and more people are being monitored. Heard that there is 4000 troops going to West Africa to build hospitals. Wonder how many of them will come back with ebola.

Very important experiment going on there. The new "Ebola Czar" has ruled that all travelers from West Africa must self-monitor for a few weeks and report in daily. Now, we get to see how well that works when it's done by a health professional.

Roughly 33,000 to 35,000 people died annually in car crashes in the USA in the last few years. But we don't hesitate to drive. Just a little perspective.

True. But if you take the numbers of driving trips all US drivers took over same period, it is really small percentage.

I am just guessing the number of people who die from Ebola in the USA is going to be so small it hardly deserves to even be in the news. But we all know the media thrives on this sort of stuff so it will continue to be headline news.

Exactly right. The same is also true for Africa. When you have a life expectancy in the 40s everything and anything kills you young.
