RAM Mount Hardware/Install
I bought my 1st RAM mount, placing it on the Bow. It did not come with any mounting hardware for the Bow, which was a surprise, but must be the norm.
That being said, do you guys recommended heave duty screws, lag screws or just bump up to bolts and nuts? TO mount the Plate/Ball on the Bow. |

Whenever possible use only stainless steel bolts and nuts that have nylon locking centers in them to mount electronics. Also use stainless body washers to spread the strain on the underside of the mounting material. Always better to use through mount nuts and bolts on boats that may have huge loads from water and waves as well as great amounts of shock and vibration. If you take a 4 foot wave over the bow of your boat, you want your mount strong enough to shrug off the weight of the wave. After your bilge pump pumps out the water, you still want to have a working bow unit on your boat. This type thing happens much more frequently than you might think. If properly mounted, the electronics survive just fine. Take care REW |
