Default Planer Boards

I am going to buy my first set of boards. I was wondering if there was a prference in brand, off-shore or walleye board? And if the tattle flags of either actually really work?

I have the Off Shore ones with the flag system. Other than being a little pricey I like them and the flags do work for me.

Off shore are pretty much the standard.

I modified mine to include a Church Tackle clip.

I like the offshore boards. Have the tattle tale flags new in the package and have not seen a reason to put them on yet.

I use Church TX-24 (The Walleye) Boards and their 22-Specials and have used them with their flag system. Yes, the flags work.

HOWEVER! I've come to the conclusion that I like to use Church's smaller TX-6 boards rather than using the TX-24 or their 22-Special board with flags. (This is a personal preference over the flags not working, mind you.)Smaller fish and weeds can easily pull these smaller boards back. The flag systems and TX-6 boards cost about the same money.

Just my 2-cents worth.

You can make a set of big boards that can use with multiple lines. I have about $15.00 in to mine and they actually work pretty good.
